Television viewers would know Race best as the host, indeed creator, of My Music (1977-86) which made a successful transition from radio. An acclaimed composer and jazz pianist, he also hosted children’s show Whirligig (1950) and worked as musical director on The Dickie Henderson Show (1960-64), among several other programmes.
