Closely linked with the career of Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Raben composed music for many of the maverick German director's movies. These included The Marriage of Maria Braun (1978), Lili Marleen (1980), Lola (1981) and Querelle (1982). He also contributed music to Wong Kar Wai's entry in the triptych Eros (2004).
