A towering presence, Presnell first found success in musicals, initially on Broadway and then film when The Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964) was adapted for the screen. He also starred in Paint Your Wagon (1969) and had key roles in such diverse films as Fargo (1996) and Saving Private Ryan (1998).
