A theatrical giant whose influence spread beyond the stage, Pinter brought his own work to the cinema screen with The Caretaker (1963), The Birthday Party (1968), The Homecoming (1973) and Betrayal (1983). He won BAFTAs for adapting the work of others on The Pumpkin Eater (1964) and The Go-Between (1970).
