A co-writer of John Carpenter’s cult favourite Dark Star (1974), O’Bannon also played the role of Sgt. Pinback. He found further success scripting genre favourites including Alien (1979), Invaders From Mars (1986), Total Recall (1990) and Bleeders (1997). He also wrote and directed The Return of the Living Dead (1985).
