Although much in demand in his native Germany, Mühe was largely unknown to English language audiences prior to his powerful performance as the conflicted Stasi agent in The Lives of Others (2007). Experienced on stage and television, his other films include Schtonk! (1991), Das Schloss (1996) and Funny Games (1997).
