In a more formal age Malcolm was familiar as one of the first continuity announcers on BBC television, a role she fulfilled between 1948 and 1956. Along with some later freelance work she subsequently found herself providing research for the ITV drama series Lillie (1978) about her grandmother Lillie Langtry.
