Learning his craft in television, Lumet scored a hit with his debut movie Twelve Angry Men (1957). He frequently returned to themes of justice and morality, with his other films including The Hill (1965), Serpico (1973), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Network (1976) and Before The Devil Knows You're Dead (2007).
