Starting as a gag writer for Bob Hope, Lachman thrived in that hothouse environment, contributing jokes delivered in movies, television specials and hosting Oscar ceremonies. He also wrote for the popular sitcom All In The Family (1971) and scripted movies such as Yours, Mine & Ours (1968, remade in 2005).
