A versatile television producer and director, Kirkland worked with the likes of Ken Dodd, Tommy Cooper, Eric Sykes, Tom O'Connor and Jim Davidson. But he was best known as Benny Hill's producer, from a fruitful, decade long collaboration that began in 1979.
