As the first BBC newsreader to appear in vision, Kendall was one of a stalwart band of presenters from 1955 who became familiar to domestic television audiences. After retirement from the Corporation in 1981 he found further success hosting the groundbreaking Channel 4 gameshow Treasure Hunt (1982-89) with Anneka Rice.
