Xie Jin

Beginning his career before China’s Cultural Revolution – most notably with Two Stage Sisters (1964) – Xie was to become a victim of it, forced to stop making films and undertake menial labour instead. He returned to directing in the 1970s and enjoyed success with The Herdsman (1982) and Hibiscus Town (1986).
