Following his father into the cutting rooms at Denham Studios, Jarvis made his name at the BBC in the 1970s. Among the shows that benefited from his talents were Ripping Yarns (1977-79), Only Fools & Horses (1981-96), Just Good Friends (1984-86), Ever Decreasing Circles (1984) and Open All Hours (1985).
