A vivacious performer with a powerful singing voice, Hutton's potential was fulfilled in only a handful of films. But she was excellent as Trudy Kockenlocker in Preston Sturges' madcap comedy The Miracle of Morgan's Creek (1944) and shone as Annie Oakley in the MGM musical Annie Get Your Gun (1950).
