A familiar face as Jack Sugden in Emmerdale, Hornby graduated from LAMDA and began his acting career in rep. Television exposure came with small roles in Get Some In! (1975), Space: 1999 (1975-77) and Minder (1979), before – in 1980 – he began his 20-year association with his most memorable character.
