A multi-million selling recording artist, Hayes won an Oscar for his soundtrack to Shaft (1971). He acted in films such as Escape From New York (1981), I’m Gonna Git You Sucka (1988) and the remake of Shaft (2000), as well as voicing the character of Chef in South Park (1997-2006).
