A character actor of imposing mien, Hallam will be best remembered for his work in television series such as The Pallisers (1974), Catherine Cookson's The Mallens (1979) - playing the malevolent squire - and EastEnders (1988-90). Though few, his films include Nicholas & Alexandra (1971), Murphy's War (1971) and Flash Gordon (1980).
