Child star Gray successfully graduated to adult roles before retiring from acting in his 30s. He made his debut in A Woman's Face (1936), with other roles coming in Rachel and the Stranger (1947), The Great Lover (1949), Two Weeks With Love (1950), and Lassie adventure The Painted Hills (1951).
