Peter Graves

After supporting roles in films such as Stalag 17 (1953) and The Night of the Hunter (1955) Graves truly came into his own as Jim Phelps in the ingenious television espionage series Mission: Impossible (1966-73, 1988-90). He went on to spoof earlier, strait-laced roles in the comedy hit Airplane! (1980).
