An English character actor, Gough starred in domestic hits such as Blanche Fury (1948), The Man In The White Suit (1951), Richard III (1955) and Dracula (1958). Subsequent lurid horror tales earned him cult status, while later roles in films such as Batman (1989) brought him a belated international recognition.
