Blacklisted during the McCarthy witch-hunts, Gordon could only follow his work on Flesh And Fury (1952) and The Lawless Breed (1953) under a succession of pseudonyms. Upon settling in Europe, the films that did subsequently bear his name include 55 Days At Peking (1963) and Krakatoa, East Of Java (1969).
