With his suave manner and distinctive voice, Franklyn would have made an interesting 007 - the closest he came was hosting the TV gameshow Masterspy (1978). With films as diverse as Breakout (1959), The Intelligence Men (1965) and Cul-de-Sac (1966), he remained in great demand on television, stage and radio.
