As director of the Hitchcockian thriller Road Games (1981), Franklin was unfazed by it being the most expensive film yet made in his native Australia. He was similarly sanguine about revisiting one of Hitch's bona fide classics, when he directed Psycho II (1983). His other films include F/X 2 (1991).
