A Scots born broadcaster whose authoritative tones were heard commentating on many important national events, from royal coronations to state funerals, Fleming also presented the annual coverage of the Edinburgh Tattoo. As an actor he was active on stage, with tv roles including Jesus of Nazareth (1953) and Reith (1983).
