When Steve McQueen’s character made his audacious leap for freedom in The Great Escape (1963), it was Ekins who was actually in the saddle. He doubled his friend in Bullitt (1968) and Towering Inferno (1974) with Electra Glide In Blue (1973) and The Blues Brothers (1980) among his other credits.
