An influential critic for over 40 years, Ebert was the resident film reviewer at the Chicago Sun-Times and co-hosted a syndicated movie review programme alongside Gene Siskel from 1975 until Siskel’s death in 1999. Earlier in his career Ebert wrote the screenplay for Beyond The Valley of the Dolls (1970).
