Although an established presence in British cinema from the mid-1940s onwards, Court found greater fame in a succession of hit horror films. These began with The Curse Of Frankenstein (1957) and included The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1959), The Raven (1963) and Masque Of The Red Death (1964).
