An American screenwriter who fell foul of HUAC in the 1950s before testifying, Collins contributed to the screenplays for such movies as Journey Into Fear (1943), Thousands Cheer (1943) and Song of Russia (1944). Later work includes Riot In Cell Block 11 (1954) and Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956).
