For many years the face of ITN, Burnet joined as a reporter in 1963 later becoming a newscaster, anchoring their election coverage and the 1969 moon landings. A freelance spell included work for the BBC and editing The Daily Express, but he returned to ITN in 1976 remaining until 1991.
