Familiar to radio listeners as the voice of Mrs Antrobus in The Archers, Boyd began her career on stage and over time worked with both George Bernard Shaw and Noel Coward. On television she played character roles in Dixon Of Dock Green (1958-1962) and Upstairs, Downstairs (1973) amongst many others.
