A versatile actor familiar on British television screens from the 1960s onward, Bannister achieved his greatest recognition as the mischievous Mr Lucas in Are You Being Served? (1972-79). His other television work includes Object Z (1965), The Dustbinmen (1969-70), The Tomorrow People (1975) and Last of the Summer Wine (1992-2010).
