A composer who turned his talents to musical genres far beyond the usual classical form, Arnell wrote his book The Technique of Film Music in 1970. He also scored around 30 films, including Robert Flaherty’s The Land (1942), The Visit (1964), The Man Outside (1967) and The Black Panther (1977).
