The author of the stage hit Tea & Sympathy, Anderson also wrote the screenplay when Vincente Minnelli directed the 1956 film version. His other work was performed on Broadway and beyond, and he also wrote novels, but his stand-out screenplays include The Nun’s Story (1959) and The Sand Pebbles (1966).
