As the creator of a succession of popular television puppet shows Anderson entertained multiple generations through the distinctive appeal of ‘Supermarionation’. His output included Fireball XL5 (1962-63), Stingray (1964-65), Thunderbirds (1965-66) and Captain Scarlett and the Mysterons (1967-68) as well as live action series UFO (1970-71) and Space: 1999 (1975-77).
