A huge star in his native India, Anand was a handsome leading man in a string of light comedy hits beginning with Hum Ek Hain (1946). Other films include Taxi Driver (1954), Munimji (1955), Funtoosh (1956) and later Guide (1965), acting roles he increasingly combined with producing and directing duties.
