An experienced comedy producer, Ammonds worked with various artists including Harry Worth, Dick Emery, Les Dawson, Mike Yarwood and Marti Caine. But it is for his association with Morecambe and Wise that he will best be remembered, steering the pair to their best remembered television successes between 1968 and 1974.
