The BAFTA Ones to Watch award in association with Dare to Be Digital.

The winner of the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award in association with Dare to be Digital in 2009 was announced at the GAME British Academy Video Games Awards on Tuesday 10 March.

Winner

Boro-Toro - a side scrolling platform puzzle game which uses an innovative control system using Wii technology.

Other Nominees

Origamee - set in a 3D pop-up story book themed world incorporating traditional adventure style puzzle solving. Environmental issues such as recycling and pollution are raised subtlety throughout the game.

VegeMe - allows the player to grow and style their own world in a race against their opponent.

About the Award

Dare to be Digital is a video games development competition, run through Dare to Be Digital, where teams of five art and science students/recent graduates are filtered through a rigorous industry selection process to work together for ten weeks from June To August. At the end of the ten weeks they compete for cash prizes.

The Dare to be Digital winners in 2008 were announced at a ceremony on the 14 August 2008 and these games formed the shortlist for the BAFTA Ones to Watch award.

The three shortlisted teams are given a number of weeks to address the panel's comments and produce a final version of their game which combines best use of technology, market potential and innovation.
