"Gary Oldman as best actor is a bit strange - a stonelike face the whole film long. And what about the amazing Benedict Cumberbatch? Should have won the price for best co-actor. "
Dre dean
(08-07-2012)
"Harry potter should of won a lot more than they did how did it get beat by the iron lady in makeup have you seen characters e.g grip hook, voldemort not mentioning the amount of wounds and cuts they had to do"
mohsen.sareh
(27-12-2012)
"separation should have won.it is great movie.we wish winning two nominated in oscar"
DAS
(22-13-2012)
"Harry Potter raked in almost every award going when they first started, including best actor and actress, etc, but now not only the films are even better than the first ones, but the acting in them is better, yet they’ve got next to nothing for the past three years ???!!! How does this happen ??!! "
Mary Sibley
(16-04-2012)
"What does Ralph Fiennes have to do to win ANYTHING?? His name appears regularly for various awards and yet it's as though he ceases to exist once the award is eventually presented? It was gutsy of him to film the least well known of Shakespeare's plays and I for one commend his choice. "
Rokstar
(16-04-2012)
"so so wanted chris O'dowd to win "
Alicia
(16-04-2012)
"I cannot believe this Harry Potter was the most amazing film ever, and definitely made so much more of a difference than any other film this year so how did it only win one and was not nominated for more????? Who would pick Hugo over Harry Potter?"
Beth
(15-18-2012)
"Eddie Redmayne should have won an award. He is a brillinat actor and I can't fault any of his work. He deserves to win one next year and be recognised as a true talent."
Justine
(15-51-2012)
"Excuse me, where is MELANCHOLIA and KIRSTEN DUNST??? Her best performance so far!"
unimpressed.
(15-50-2012)
"The artist is a rip of dancing in the rain!! How did the director Michel Hazanavicius beat Drives director Nicolas Winding Refn!!! And how was ryan gosling not up for best actor his performance was amazing in it!! drive was definitely my favourite movie in the past 12 months by far! "
John
(14-39-2012)
"Anyone who rates "The Skin I Live In" or "Drive" has not seen "A Separation" which is far superior as evidenced by its top 2011 rating 8.6 IMDB, also 99% score on Rotten Tomatoes, also it's win at Golden Globes. And Harry Potter? Please forget that children's commercial franchise stuff. "
clare
(14-59-2012)
"Even with 4 nominations, DRIVE didn't win any Award... so why ? I'm french, I think that the Award are made for those who don't go to see the best movies. On the one hand,I'm really disappointed, but on the other, I think it's less difficult for the actors who are not "awarded", abd their integrity. "
CL Woodall
(14-58-2012)
"As a 66 year old American, I am Baffled that Harry Potter received not a single film or acting nom! Alan Rickman! Both Daniel and Emma were terrific. The film was for my money the best of the year by far. Just sad that the whole lot has been cast aside, with only an effects award. SAD!"
me
(14-57-2012)
"i didnt even bother watching this.. i knew that they would pick The Artist for everything. truth is War Horse was far better, i think times have moved on from silent movies. i think they pick the wrong films for everything! and harry potter hasnt actuall ywon on here yet! that is outrageous dont see people making attractions world wide out of the artist or the queen watching the artist now do we? utter ridiculous!"
secondalibi
(14-57-2012)
"So glad that "The Skin I Live In" won the award for Best Film Not In The English Language. ! A truly great film and fully deserved. Apart from that no real surprises. Would have liked to have seen "Drive" pick up something, probably my favourite film of the last 12 months. "
Jolgas
(14-57-2012)
"A Separation on IMDB was 8.6 and the top rating of all movies for 2012 including English speaking. The Skin I Live In which won here was 7.7 and not in the same class as A Separation. Can someone explain to me why this Iranian classic was ignored? "
Sarita
(14-56-2012)
"Grant Orchard is a star!!! "
FSG
(14-56-2012)
"what is BAFTA up to??? A third rate Almodovar as a winner over A Separation? Shame on the judges... or whoever voted"
Anna
(14-50-2012)
"Why is Michael Fassbender continuously being snubbed?? Will no-one recognise his exceptional performance in Shame?? He deserves better!"
Soundsgood
(13-44-2012)
"Have BAFTA members gone mad? How can The Artist get nominated for best sound? Come on, there's a few moments of sound in it, but it's a silent movie. The music doesn't count as that's best score. Is there some 'political fix' going on somewhere just to make it have more nominations."
sobhan
(13-10-2012)
"a seperation is the best film...thank you asghar farhadi,,,,, "
Srinath Gunaratne
(13-10-2012)
"Not awarding 'Seperation', the best foreign film is an injustice and scandalous. 'Skin I live' is not the best of Almodvar and not the best of international class."
Anahita
(13-30-2012)
"HARRY POTTER ONLY WINS SPECIAL EFFECTS!! What has the world come to?! The soundtrack is beautiful, the production design is astounding and Alan Rickman deserves so much more! Should have one best film. Full stop. How could the BAFTA's ignore Potter? They have given so much! BE ASHAMED!!!"
Jess
(13-26-2012)
"Well.... I'm actually quite upset. Harry Potter should of won more as in my eyes, that was one of the best movies this years! How did Hugo mange to beat it so many times :( "
Charlie
(13-09-2012)
"Not enough wins for Harry Potter, and no wins for The Adventures of Tintin? It's been robbed! The Artist should be up for best foreign film (seeing as it was filmed in France, starring and directed by French stars) and other smaller categories. It was obvious award bait and all the awards ceremonies gave them what they wished It'll be the same with the Oscars"
Hazrul
(13-09-2012)
"Octavia did it again! congratulations! love her!"
saman
(13-08-2012)
"how could it happen...a seperation is much better than the skin i live in"
Voldy
(13-08-2012)
"what's happening muggles? why don't you give HARRY POTTER the right recognition they deserve. The Dark Lord is very much disgraced"
Tay
(13-47-2012)
"drive got robbed badly. the artist was just the story of singing in the rain (compare the two. you'll be surprised how much of a rip off the artist is) in a silent movie format."
Spring
(13-47-2012)
"Living In A Material World should have won, it was a great documentary "
williams
(13-47-2012)
"Emperor's New Clothes just about sums up the Artist. Mildly entertaining but NOT an award winner. You voters all got carried away by the hype and publicity. Final nail in the coffin - best actor and original screenplay awards. What's going on??"
Maria
(13-16-2012)
"Eddie redmayne to win hes great in all his work"
French
(13-15-2012)
"Go, go, go The Artist!!"
Harry Potter Fan
(13-15-2012)
"Harry Potter should have been nominated for more rather than just behind the scenes (no disrespect for those who worked at that bit)"
fangirl73
(13-15-2012)
"Where is Gerard Butler in this list? he is by far the sexiest, best actor out there!"
Jen
(13-14-2012)
"Good luck, Tom Hiddleston, for the Rising Star Award!!! Saw him the other night at the Criterion theatre. Amazing actor and lovely guy."
Flobber
(13-14-2012)
"Where's The Woman In Black in the nominations list? I saw the movie and deserves a BAFTA AMAZING!"
Tez
(13-14-2012)
"This should be Gary Oldman's hour but just watch Swooney Clooney or the other beautiful boy Pitt steal his thunder"
Sarah
(13-14-2012)
"Where is Ryan Gosling???!! He deserves at least a nomination! He performane in Drive was great! :)"
Mari
(13-13-2012)
"I am simply baffled at how the Harry Potter films keep getting passed over for the top awards not just this show but ALL of them, for years!"
Mark Z
(13-12-2012)
"Ten years of secrets, ten years of pure ice... then it all explodes magnificently in Deathly Hallows Part II, and Rickman's Snape gets unnoticed?"
M
(13-11-2012)
"7 for The Artist, really? hahaha... It's the mute Singin' in the Rain, come on. Big disappointment from these awards. Thank God Senna won 2."
iman
(13-11-2012)

Kayla
(13-11-2012)
"Hiddles! WHY YOU NO HAVE BAFTA! War Horse! WHY YOU NO HAVE BAFTA!! I am glad though that Harry Potter won something considering it has been snubbed in every other awards show."
Shannon
(13-10-2012)
"i'm so disappointed Harry Potter wasnt nominated for more awards and didnt win any more than one award. i think they brought it out too early so it was overlooked when it came to awards season. very disappointing to say it is the BRITISH academy of film and television arts, it should back more pioneering British films like Harry Potter. but well done to all the winners, Meryl Streep deserved it."
canraise
(13-10-2012)
"wow it's great, i can see all nomination"
Mark
(13-10-2012)
"Gary Oldman is the best !"
bill rezende
(13-09-2012)
"very good!but,i hope george clooney wins this bafta."
Lukas
(13-09-2012)
"Still can't understand why Brad Pitt was nominated for Moneyball and not for The Tree of Life... and why Jessica Chastain for The Help and not for The Tree of Life - they both have delivered such incredible performances there! It doesn't seem right that a Terrence Malick's masterpiece has been completly overlooked."
Maite Minguez
(13-08-2012)
"No negaré que Meryl Streep es una gran actriz. Pero se tendría que valorar la magnifica interpretación de Michelle Williams en "Una semana con Marilyn"."
saeed
(13-08-2012)
"just separation"
Lee
(13-07-2012)
"Fassbender totally deserved the win for his amazing performance in Shame"
Yann
(13-40-2012)
"Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy should definitely win more awards"
margarite caterina
(13-38-2012)
"no way,i voted eddie redmayne. hes afar more charismatic actor than him who won!! "
Al
(13-37-2012)
"THANK THE LORD Bridesmaid didn't win, a disgrace it made it this far!"
Stephanie
(13-37-2012)
"Seriously, I can't understand The Artist's success (and I'm french)! 7 BAFTAs'?! It's too much... "Drive" deserved at least the Best film and Director. And no Ryan Gosling nomination for leading actor or Cliff Martinezz for the hypnotic Original music... Melancholia and Take shelter totally forgotten too. It's a pity. BAFTAs had by far the most interesting nominations (compared to Oscars and Cesars) but the winners are disappointing... "
Morti
(13-36-2012)
"A separation was better than other pictures, why not? Where is Ryan Gosling??? he's got incredible performances."
Anna
(13-36-2012)
"harry potter is assumed that had to be nominated for best film, worked for 10 years straight, so they were not nominated in that category, someone tells me that, please?"
mark
(13-33-2012)
"this Artist was the most overated piece of production I have seen, Silent movies made in the Silent era would knock this in a cocked hat"
ron roche
(13-32-2012)
"meryl streep is indeed the greatest. kudos mary louis"
Dave Dawson
(13-32-2012)
"I was disappointed that BAFTA members chose to ignore Rooney Mara's performance in "Dragon Tattoo". Not an easy film for some, but I would have thought voting members would appreciate Ms. Mara's transformation from her real life into the haunting Lisbeth Salander character.. It was a superb, intense, sexy, and "spot-on" performance."
Ess Ess Pee
(13-31-2012)
"No wonder the world is separated when a brilliant film like A Separation does not get due and earned acknowledgement. "
Mehdi
(13-30-2012)
"Asghar Farhadi! We all are waiting your Oscar winning!"
Diana Spurvine
(13-30-2012)
"SO DISAPPOINTED over the fact that Gary missed out. The guy was amazing as Smiley. Although im glad he at least got nominated. let's hope for better luck at the OSCARS although i guess he did have more of a chance in his own country.. i think the oscar will no doubt go to the overratedness that IS clooney or pitt.. War horse looked amazing and was largely overlooked. And again, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy should have got something else too (apart from the oustanding British film )very... disappointed BAFTA, but i still love you :) "
Corinna
(13-30-2012)
"There is something wrong with all of these awards shows if they cannot recognize the performances Alan Rickman gave in the Harry Potter series, you know, the highest grossing franchise of all time..."
May
(13-29-2012)
"The Artist is a flawless film. All the awards are well-deserved."
milad
(13-29-2012)
"i think separation can be winner "
virginie
(13-27-2012)
"The Baftas are a joke. They should be called Oscars bis, or Oscars pre-party or Oscars repetition. Nothing to do with british talent."
-x-
(13-27-2012)
"why are all these comments so negative??? well done to all the nominations and the winners! =D"
Jane
(13-25-2012)
"Warhorse was a fantastic, poignant film, a must see for everyone to appreciate the total futility of war. Brilliantly portrayed. Should have won an award."
antony march
(13-21-2012)
"what does gary oldman never won best actor thought the baftas was about britixh talent "
Jolgas
(13-20-2012)
"A Separation is one of the best movies ever. Should have won Best film and Best not in English. It was not really a movie, it was like watching real life. What wins instead? A story about plastic skin! Ridiculous. "
Shahin
(13-20-2012)
"Lol what is this seperation didnt win????? Who is this award kiding looool publicity stunt !!! May the best win or may the politics win?!"
Deonne
(12-27-2012)
"The same films, directors, producers and writers are nominated at every single film award...there are much better films than 'the artist' or 'moneyball'"
OMID
(12-26-2012)
"A Separation is the best film in world."
Charlotte
(12-26-2012)
"Can someone explain where Alan Rickman is? Although Twilight isn't on here; it's all good."
Leah
(12-51-2012)
"Why is Alan Rickman not on this list anywhere? Think they missed out the BEST ACTOR"
Benedict
(12-18-2012)
"Where's Alan Rickman?"
Blanca
(12-37-2012)
"Thanks God some festivals got into consideration other movies like Drive, or The ides of march, maybe a nomination to the gret Ryan Gosling is missing..."
Jack Bigzey
(12-41-2012)
"I cannot believe that Harry Potter and The deathy hallows Part 2 has been ovelooked by the BAFTAS. There is so many magnificent things about the film, and the sheer contribution to film of David Heyman that has produced/directed EIGHT of the films! though some of the films on this list were clearly made for awards, i an glad that 'The Iron Lady' has been nominated as it is a great film which merly streep's fantastic job of acting as Margaret Thatcher. Unfortunately i am quite dissapointed this year, due to the ovelooking of superb films that, just get knocked out the park, for some bafta hogging directors and actors."
Dela and Sina
(12-29-2012)
"I believe that Asghar Farhadi has not only created an amazing story but he's also been able to give audiences all over the world a true insight into the every day lives of regular Iranian people. You make us very proud to be Iranian Mr Farhadi...all the best wishes for A SEPARATION!!!!!!"
Amy & Charlotte
(12-52-2012)
"No "Warhorse" nomination for best picture. Oh well we will just have to wait two weeks for the Oscars. "
Stephen
(12-37-2012)
"Completely concur with Russell Crowe: Ryan Gosling should at least be Best Actor nominated for his electrifying performance in Drive at Bafta and Oscars. I believe Gary Oldman or Michael Fassbender should receive the Best Actor nod. Nicolas Winding Refn should certainly receive Best Director. Tom Hiddleston is my Rising Star choice."
Jade
(12-36-2012)
"If there is just one person I would like to see win, it has to be Eddie Redmayne. He is absolutely phenomenal. "
Katherine
(12-32-2012)
"A Separation was a masterpiece!! I really believe it should have been up for more awards than just best foreign film! Oscars got it a wee bit more right in terms of the best screen play nomination too!"
Ryan Schuster
(11-22-2012)
"I'm as disappointed as anyone Harry Potter didn't make a better showing this year. Rickman really should have at least got a nomination. But I think after last years special award for outstanding contribution to British cinima, the BAFTAs pretty much wrote Potter off as a done deal. It's too bad. Potter itself wasn't particularly special compared to the completion, but Rickmans performance was special and he pretty much got skewed. "
soheil
(11-24-2012)
"George Orwell himself would be proud of 2 & 2. Well done Babak Anvari and best of luck."
Toby
(11-26-2012)

jenny
(10-26-2012)

"Thank God for BAFTA.....unlike OSCAR they recognise great films and great performances. We Need to Talk About Kevin was an amazing film about a very difficult subject and Tilda Swinton's performance was outstanding. This has been recognised by the BAFTA nominations. For OSCAR unless it's sugar coated it doesn't get a look in....."

"This evening saw 'Tinker Tailor.. Gary Oldman's Smiley, gives a compelling and utterly restrained and still performance, even when he walks across a room. Production design for this film is just beautiful, gorgeous dirty colour recreating, the palette of the 1970's. Please don't forget Glen Close and Mia Wasikowska in 'Albert Nobbs' a gem of a film, and it has been left off the Baftas??"

"I agree i think that harry potter has made such a huge impact to brtish film over the past ten years and believe that it should get its own award. Also alan rickman's performance in deathly hallows part 2 was outstanding and was shocked to see he didn't make the shortlist."

"Why so much hate for The Artist? I'm surprised that is the film you guys to decide to single out. You picked a film that is a wonderful milestone in filmmaking and hated it out. The reason Jonah Hill is on the list because his portrayal of his character was exceptional. He was able to keep a tone of quarkiness he normally puts in his films but without making it moronic and portrayed a character who went through a change in the length of the time allocated for the story. I am not hating on Harry Potter since I have loved those films since I was a kid. But if they were going to give Alan Rickman an award a long time ago for it. When you extend a character over the course of 8 movies it is hard to give said character development from film to film. And as a final note, just because British is in the title of the awards being given does not mean they have to be British films."
Yash

"1) Silent movies lack dialogue, not sound. So stop with that 2) Its surprising how a masterpiece like 'The Tree of Life' got conveniently left out. 3) Its a relief Gary Oldman is nominated, He should win 4) Why is Christopher Plummer on the list? His performance was overrated. If he wins, its just one of those 'long due' 5) Ryan Gosling deserved a nod for Drive 6) Paul Giamatti was better than Phillip Seymour Hoffman in The Ides of March 7) Alexander Payne deserved a nomination for The Descendants"
