Ant and Dec at the British Academy Television Awards 2006

The British Academy Television Awards supported by Sky+ take place on Sunday 20 April. Graham Norton will host the star-studded ceremony at the Palladium in London.

The nominations for the Awards were announced on Tuesday 18 February. Highlights include first-time nominations for Simon Amstell, Heston Blumenthal, Russell Brand, Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins, and Judi Dench's twelfth BAFTA Television nomination.

Elsewhere The Bill takes on Holby City in the Continuing Drama category, Britain's Got Talent faces off against Strictly Come Dancing for Entertainment Programme, and period drama Cranford garners the most nominations with three overall.
