The Carl Foreman Award in 2009 was presented to Director Steve McQueen for Hunger.

Steve McQueen received The Carl Foreman Award at this year's Orange British Academy Film Awards on Sunday 8 February. The Director/writer was presented the Award on stage by actress Thandie Newton.

The Carl Foreman Award has been presented annually since 1998 in recognition of special achievement by a British director, writer or producer for their first feature film.
