Ben Lock Week 2 - It's not just me saying thanks
18 November 09
It would be nice if a BAFTA nomination meant being whisked off to sunny climes to be pampered and escorted around exotic locations, but right now our feature film project is gathering pace and I’m keeping my feet firmly on the ground. A producer's job is never done!
Unfortunately Serg can't make the Awards as he’s already sunning himself, but it’s great that Danny Capozzi (Designer) and Andy Janes (Asst Director) will be there in his place. I wish everyone could be there... from the executives and broadcasters who gave the greenlight*, the avalanche of creative talent** who transformed a terrific concept into an innovative TV series, the ingenious CGI artists and technicians making it all move and look gorgeous and finally the post team polishing it all with inventive sound and slick edits. From start to finish an international production team kept it all together, juggling over 50,000 shots and what seemed like 50 million director review notes. Without them it’d be a chaotic mess!
As a producer, you work across all departments and do your best to create an environment for their energy and passion to come alive on screen. It’s what I love about producing and award nominations mean it’s not just me saying thanks to the crew, but highly regarded experts too***!
- (gotta thank them really)
- *(I couldn’t find the collective noun for talent!)
- **(and they’re the ones that count!)
