A comedy writer closely associated with Jack Benny, Balzer - in collaboration with Sam Perrin - won a brace of Emmys for work on the comedian's hit TV show. They also wrote the book for the Broadway musical Are You With It?, filmed in 1948, and contributed to many other comedy programmes.
