Russell T Davies - Executive Producer and writer of the revived Dr Who brand, its various spin-offs, and a range of other successful productions - considers the state of Children’s Television.

Russell T Davies: In Conversation In an address to BAFTA members and industry leaders, Davies talks about his origins in children’s programmes, his thoughts about the audience and his hopes and fears for kids’ output in the future - including his view on the BBC’s move to Salford.

Moderated by Sue Nott, Executive Producer Independents, CBBC Drama, the event brought widespread coverage as the Doctor Who writer spoke passionately about the state of children's television.

Having worked on kids TV shows since the eighties – including Why Don’t You? and Chucklevision – Davies speaks from experience about the difficulties of funding and expresses his fear that "children's (TV) is sinking lower and lower down the agenda".

The evening was co-presented by BAFTA and Showcomotion Children’s Media Conference, reflecting the conference's role in exploring the creative, business and regulatory issues facing the entire children’s media and entertainment industry.
