Watch Peter Bennett-Jones deliver the Academy's 2011 Television Lecture in which he discusses how to make more compelling, innovative and extraordinary television.
Anyone who sees TV as anything other than the dominant media platform is plain wrong. It is this dominance which generates our responsibility to do better.
Peter Bennett-Jones presented an energetic and passionate television lecture in which he argued fervently for more socially ambitious programming in today’s television schedule. He called for content producers to place a greater emphasis on social issues so that television may be put to its full potential as an agent for positive change.
Bennett-Jones plead with industry professionals to “pursue your passions…focus on what change you want to make, what views you want to be heard and shared, and make this the starting point of a television development.”
The lecture was followed by a Q&A hosted by TV journalist Kirsty Wark allowing for further questions from the audience.
Peter's creative energy and his quest to nurture and support talent are an inspiration. He has developed and inspired some of the finest talents in comedy, as well as founded one of the UK's best known production companies, Tiger Aspect Group, and produced numerous award-winning programmes. Peter is Chairman of PBJ and KBK Management, Chair of Trustees at Comic Relief and Sport Relief, on the board of Trustees at the National Theatre and in 2011 was awarded the BAFTA Special Award.
His contribution to the television industry has been outstanding and in recognition of this fact he was awarded the BAFTA Special Award at the Philips British Academy Television Awards in May this year.
