FILMCLUB Close Encounters in association with BAFTA

FILMCLUB aims to expand young people's experience of film and their sense of what is possible in their lives and future careers.

In these Close Encounter sessions BAFTA members from the film industry lift the veil on cinema and reveal the world of film-making from an insider's point of view.

A Close Encounter Interview With Michael Elson

On 3 May 2011 visual effects producer Michael Elson spoke to students at Stokesley School, Middlesbrough about his craft and how others could work in the film industry.

Michael has worked on more than 60 films, including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Sweeney Todd.

A Close Encounter Interview With Jeremy Brock

On 26 May 2010 BAFTA member Jeremy Brock spoke to students at Lord William’s School in Thame, Oxfordshire.

Jeremy Brock is a BAFTA Award-winning scriptwriter with much experience in writing for television and film. He wrote the screenplay for films The Last King of Scotland and Charlotte Gray among others.

On 31 March 2010 Visual Effects Professional Stefan Drury visited Kobi Nazrul Primary School in Tower Hamlets, London.

Stefan, who has worked on films including Kick Ass, Fantastic Mr Fox and Stardust, spoke to two classes of film-lovers in their after-school filmclub.
