Who is eligible to apply?BAFTA Crew is open to applicants with two or more TV broadcast or feature credits who live outside the M25. |
How do I apply? You will need to complete our online application form by 18 February 2013. This should include two professional references. |
Which departments will be covered by BAFTA Crew?Camera, Sound (production and post), Art Department, Costume, Hair and Make-up and Visual Effects and Editing. We will also include relevant masterclasses for Production Management staff. |
How will BAFTA Crew members be selected?BAFTA Crew will be selected by a panel that will include at least one representative from all of the departments featured in the programme (see above) as well as a representative from Creative England, Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy and the BAFTA membership. Crew will be selected based on the volume and quality of their experience and, in some cases, on the testimony of their referees. For this reason, we would recommend that your references are up-to-date and are people who you have worked with/for in your designated role. |

Who will deliver the live masterclasses?BAFTA masterclasses are delivered by professionals at the highest end of the industry, selected from our pool of winners, nominees and members. Recent BAFTA masterclasses have been given by: Danny Cohen, Lol Crawley, David Wasco, Sarah Greenwood, Eve Stewart, Maria Djurkovic and Erik Alexander Wilson. |
I am a very experienced practitioner looking for a programme that will develop my technical skills. Is this programme for me?This programme is not devised to focus specifically on one craft, nor is it a technical training course. BAFTA Crew will give you access to established HoDs and a deeper insight into their working practices. The programme is designed to help you develop your skills through dialogue with our speakers, who are among the best in the international film industry, and also through networking with fellow Crew members. BAFTA Crew will also provide an environment in which you can meet other professionals at a similar level in the industry and gain a broader understanding of their work. |
Will BAFTA cover my travel to and from events? You are expected to cover your own travel and accommodation. We do have a very limited number of bursaries available to supplement travel costs on the basis of need. More details will be available once you have been accepted and before you pay your fee. |
I have worked on more than two feature films but in a junior role in my department. Should I apply?Yes. We welcome applications from candidates who have demonstrated a level of skill and professionalism in their field but are still new to their career. This programme will help strengthen both your networking, professional contacts and gain confidence within the industry in your region and beyond. Through the peer-to-peer learning experiences of both the online and live, masterclasses, BAFTA Crew will also give you access to key creative and technical practitioners both in your department and in other fields.] |
