Daily Reports from the Hampton's International Film Festival will be posted starting October 4th through October 8th.
BAFTA New York in partnership with The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF ) have announced the 2012 FOCUS ON UK FILM, an exciting lineup of new UK productions, featuring celebrated British talent from behind the camera and on the screen, to be featured at the 20th edition of the Hamptons International Film Festival, October 4-8, 2012. The program is presented in association with BBC AMERICA and The GREAT Britain campaign.
Renowned director and documentarian, Michael Apted, and producer, director and human rights activist, Trudie Styler, - both BAFTA members - co-host the FOCUS ON UK FILM strand that runs throughout the Festival. Emmy®-nominated Alan Cumming star of 2012 HIFF film Any Day Now and CBS’ The Good Wife, is slated to host the Festival’s Closing Night ceremony, the Golden Starfish Awards. Cumming, the multi-talented Scotsman, is also featured in “A Conversation With...”, one of the Festival’s signature programs.
The FOCUS ON UK FILM features new films across multiple genres. The program is highlighted by the World Premiere of Julian Jarrold’s The Girl, the story of the turbulent off-screen relationship between Alfred Hitchcock (Toby Jones) and Tippi Hedren (BAFTA Member Sienna Miller). Miller and Jones will attend the film’s Festival screening.
Additional narrative presentations in the FOCUS ON UK FILM include: Quartet, the directorial debut of BAFTA member and BAFTA Award and Academy Award®-winner Dustin Hoffman, written by Ronald Harwood, starring Maggie Smith, Michael Gambon, and Billy Connolly; Seven Psychopaths, Martin McDonagh’s twisted, comic tale of psychopaths for hire, starring Colin Farrell and Christopher Walken, and Shadow Dancer, a gripping thriller set in Belfast from director and BAFTA-winner James Marsh, starring Clive Owen.
A stellar group of UK documentaries includes 56 Up, the latest episode in Michael Apted’s classic documentary series, London: The Modern Babylon, Julien Temple’s documentary portrait of London as a city of transformation, immigration, conflict and hope, and Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007, an EPIX Original Documentary, the thrilling and inspiring narrative behind the longest running film franchise in cinema history. It screens on October 5, Global James Bond Day in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise on the anniversary of Dr. No’s world premiere.
