BAFTA New York announces Outreach Initiative to create a scholarship program for selected Students in Hunter College's Film and Media Studies

BAFTA New York is excited to announce that we are creating a scholarship program for selected students in Hunter College’s Film & Media Studies Department. WE NEED YOUR HELP! In our first year, our goal is to offer four scholarships of $2,500 each to help cover students' tuition costs. Hunter College faculty members will work with us to identify scholarship candidates. A public university, Hunter has a world-class faculty, combines film history with production and encourages socially aware documentary making.

We are raising funds, in part, via the innovative website, Charity Buzz (www.charitybuzz.com); through this program unusual items are auctioned online to the general public. Can you help us by donating events, services or items?
For example, a set visit would be great because it’s a behind-the-scenes treat that isn’t available to the general public and is sure to get a lot of potential bidding. Can you donate similar unique experiences?

Other ideas which are by no means exhaustive:

·         Two A pair of tickets to a Red Carpet premiere in NYC.
·         A one-on-one with a senior executive (a project ‘clinic’).
·         A dinner/sporting event with a celebrity.
·         Be an Extra: aA walk-on part in a TV show or a film.
·         A valuable Internship.
·         A pPair of VIP tickets to a show taping in NYC.

The monetary value of these gifts is intangible, indeed often priceless.  These are auction items that have the potential to fetch large sums of money.  Items donated are tax deductible based on the estimated value agreed with Charity Buzz.

Please contact Board Member Meryl Katz directly at:  mlkatz24@gmail.com if you have items to donate. We hope to collect all items by late September. So far we have a visit to the What Not to Wear set and two tickets to a Samuel Goldwyn premiere. Please help us with coming up with more offers.  Thanks so much for helping us make a real contribution in the NYC community and helping some deserving students!
