BAFTA New York’s Children’s Committee Strong Presence at Kidscreen 2014

The BAFTA New York’s Children’s Committee launched the first of its networking lunch series on January 17, 2014 at Punch, in the Flatiron District of New York. Over two dozen industry executives gathered to reconnect, make new connections and discuss trends. This lunch series will continue throughout the year and is by invitation only; one does not need to be a member of the Children’s Committee to attend. On the heels of this networking initiative the BAFTA New York Children’s Committee will have a strong presence at the 2014 Kidscreen Summit taking place in New York from February 10 through February 12.

Following on the success of last year’s partnership with The Children’s Media Conference, UK Trade & Investment and The Creative Garden, the BAFTA New York Children’s Committee will be participating in the [email protected] Briefing Breakfast for the UK delegates on Monday 10th February at the British Consulate. Spencer Mahony, HM Consul & Regional Director, East Coast USA- UKTI will serve as the host and Linda Kahn, Linda Kahn Media, LLC, a BAFTA New York Board Member and founder of the organization’s Children’s Committee will moderate the panel entitled, “Emerging Opportunities in the Digital Landscape.” The discussion will focus on second screen viewing and new platforms, and include a dialogue on how traditional television outlets are adapting to growing alternative screens. The briefing will also explore new opportunities for programming and funding models that are emerging in response to the development of new digital outlets as well as traditional networks. Panelists are executives who represent broadcasters, kids’ networks, studios and producer/innovators working successfully in cross-platform and OTT services.

On that same day, the BAFTA New York Children’s Committee, in association with Kidscreen, will also be holding a panel at the conference entitled “Tax Credits 101,” which will give insights into the recently passed UK Animation Tax Credits introduced in 2013. Moderated by BAFTA New York’s Children’s Committee member, Bob Higgins, EVP Children's & Family Entertainment, FremantleMedia. The panelists are: Jackie Edwards, Executive Producer CBeebies Animation & Acquisitions; Oli Hyatt, Creative Director, Blue Zoo Productions, Ltd; Moses Nyachae, Director, Film & TV, Saffery Champness and Julie Stall, Vice President, Production, Portfolio Entertainment, Inc.

The “Tax Credits 101” panel is on Monday, February 10 at 12:00 and open to all registered participants of the Kidscreen Summit.
