WOMAN OF HER WORD DISABILITIES SCHOLAR
Ever since her first memory, Shannon Ryan has had a passion for film and television. Born in New York and raised in Madison, New Jersey, Shannon began to exhibit signs of an imaginative mind, a talent for writing, and a flair for directing from an early age. By high school, she was coercing her friends to appear in her own short films.
Following her graduation from Columbia College Chicago, internship and freelance opportunities at various production companies and several high profile productions fortified a passion for development, production, and screenwriting.
Shannon is now enrolled as a second year student at Brooklyn College’s Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema where she is aspiring for her MFA in producing and is producing content on a daily basis. She hopes to have the opportunity to someday use film to give a voice to and empower minorities and individuals with disabilities.
