WOMAN OF HER WORD DISABILITIES SCHOLAR
Ever since her first memory, Shannon Ryan has had a passion for film and television. Born in New York and raised in Madison, New Jersey, Shannon began to exhibit signs of an imaginative mind, a talent for writing, and a flair for directing from an early age.
Following her graduation from Columbia College Chicago with a BA in screenwriting, internships and freelance opportunities at various production companies and several high profile productions fortified a passion for development, production, and screenwriting.
Shannon is a third year student at Brooklyn College’s Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema where she is aspiring for her MFA in producing. She is about to begin her Thesis and is assisting with the productions of several exciting projects. Outside the classroom, she is a freelance script reader for two Los Angeles based production companies, has dabbled in talent representation, and continues to write in her spare time. Inspired by the exposure she has received, the lives of her loved ones, and her personal experiences: she hopes to develop and produce a wide array of media, film, and television projects that can inspire and empower minorities, especially individuals with disabilities. She wholeheartedly believes in the power of film, committing herself to the fight for diversity and equality on and off camera.
